In memory of someone special...

Dear friends and family,

We'd like to humbly invite you to contribute to the legacy of Albert Gunawan Tirtadinata - beloved husband, dad, grandad, brother, uncle and granduncle - who passed away peacefully past midnight of Wednesday 31st August 2022.

He was a role model and a light in our world, and we will continue to shine this light by carrying his memory and legacy. He went to sleep peacefully surrounded by his beloved family, to the tunes of his favourite band, Billy Vaughn and his Orchestra. We miss him dearly, but we shall celebrate the memories. 

Albert was born in Surabaya, Indonesia in 1946, to Frans and Meggy. They then moved to Jakarta where he grew up with his parents and siblings. Through his pioneering spirit, he embarked on his solo journey to Karlsruhe, Germany, where he completed a degree in Electrical Engineering and started his professional career - during this time, he was also instrumental in bringing his brother, Tom, and two sisters, Ivonne and Editha, to Germany. Upon coming back to Jakarta, in 1978, he met his soulmate and the love of his life, Seniwati Sian Sofjan and got married soon after.

In their 44 years of blissful marriage, Albert and Sian spent some time travelling, built a life up in Jakarta, and welcomed their children Amanda and Farrell. Albert brought the family to relocate to Perth, Western Australia in 1997, where he built a supportive and loving home to everyone around him, and later joined by his son-in-law Rex, grandchildren Cody and Aidan, and just recently, soon to be daughter-in-law Wenny. We have benefited greatly from his unconditional love, infinite wisdom, and care. His personality, traits and values have imprinted in our DNAs, inspiring how we shape our lives moving forward. 

Albert is a born-leader in both professional and personal life, often the chosen leader of any group where he is in. Ever the studious kind, he followed many interests post his retirement in Perth, including filmography, real estate, naturotherapy, remedial massage, and photography. But he stays true to his passion, which are music, travelling, eating, and cooking, and lastly his dedication to the family.

He is always the happiest when he prepares daily meals for the family - even during the years where he had to endure the discomfort of daily dialysis session. We always enjoy his signature “Bakmi Goreng” (fried noodles) - a staple at every family birthday celebrations, a tradition which we will continue to celebrate across generations to come. 

He is constantly there to provide everyone with the guidance and advice, and most importantly, touching our hearts with emotional support. We take solace that with his departure as he will continue to shine his light for us all, wherever we are in the world.

To honour his legacy and in remembrance of his personal health battle, we truly appreciate your kind donation to this worthy cause.
