In memory of my dad, Steve Webb
Many of you already know that I lost my dad last year, suddenly and unexpectedly, to a heart attack. On 25th November 2025, he went for a walk and never came home. I still remember the phone call in the early hours of the morning as though it were yesterday.
The grief of losing him is something I carry every day. Some days are harder than others, but not a day goes by where I don't think about him, talk to him or miss him deeply. Losing my dad has left a hole in my heart that can never truly be filled.
This August, I will attempt to complete 70 laps of Riverway in honour of my dad, and what would have been his 70th birthday on the 30th August 2026.
This challenge is my way of celebrating his life, remembering the incredible person he was and turning my grief into something positive. Something that could help save lives and support other families affected by heart disease and cardiac arrest.
Every day in Australia, around 70 people suffer a cardiac arrest - that's one person every 15-20 minutes. Survival rates increase dramatically when CPR is started quickly and a defibrillator (AED) is available.
I'm fundraising for the Heart Foundation, whose work supports life changing research, education, prevention programs and support services for Australians affected by heart disease.
If you are able to donate, no matter how small, I would be incredibly grateful. All donations over $2 are tax deductible and you will receive a receipt by email after donating.
Thank you so much for your support as I take on 70 laps for Dad!
