In memory of Alex Briggs, a friend to everyone
Friday 11th SepAlex Briggs died suddenly of a heart attack in his thirties.
Above everything else, Alex was an extraordinary friend. He gave people his time without ever counting it - the hour-long "quick" phone call, the check-in that landed at exactly the right moment, the friendship that carried on long after the job or the city or the shared classroom had ended. He remembered. He turned up. He cared about other people far more than he ever cared for himself.
He was also brilliant and very funny, the person who made the room better for walking into it. People from every part of his life - school, uni, politics, law, Sydney, Adelaide - keep saying the same thing: how lucky they were to have known him.
We're raising money for the Heart Foundation in Alex's memory, because he was taken far too young and far too suddenly, and because his heart was the best thing about him.
