In memory of Adam Retmock

Adam was a very special person. A good egg who cared deeply for people and passionate about his big loves, Kelly and music. He will be forever missed.

There is a silence that grief bestows on the soul, A silence that only those grieving can know, A silence that shakes the heart with its violence, A silence that sounds like all the sorrows of the world. A whole year of missing our musical chats and telling you to f*ck off every time you asked me to knit you a Rabbitohs beanie. It’s still hard to fathom. 💔

Who says social media is bad? Meeting Adam and chatting all things music, and that flowing on to life’s ups and downs, was something I’ll hold on to. I’ll put some You Am I on today and toast a life too short but also well lived. Much love and strength to all Adams family and friends.

Miss you my awesome and cool cousin. Great taste in music and of course the mighty Rabbitohs. Will sing loud for you at Pearl Jam in 2 weeks

Adam, you should here with us at gigs, football, cooking, trivia, and in so many conversations and life events. We want to see others have the life you were so close to renewing with us. We'll keep you close and do good in your name but there's a hole in the world where you used to be.

Miss you everyday, and your laugh!! I'll never forget you.. Hope you're enjoying The Great Gig in the Sky and it's everything I imagine it may be..

It still seems unbelievable that Adam isn’t around anymore. I can still hear that particular cadence of his speech when I imagine him recounting something that amused him. If I hear You Am I, if I’m cooking, if someone mentions a trivia night, if I find a cool kind of new beer, if there’s a particular bird sounding nearby, if I think about Queensland - he’s right there, front of mind. I miss his laugh, too. One of my fave memories of Adam is hanging out with him and Johnny and Kelly in Canberra, having dinner on the HUGE DECK of the Porn Alpine. He was drinking a beer called ‘My Wife’s Bitter’. Funny and offbeat, a really great guy.

While I never met Adam, I knew his journey through the beautiful Kelly Richards. Hoping that more research will have positive impacts for those living with heart disease and those at risk 💜
